Current status of domestic and overseas standards

The industry's current transmission line design standards are diverse, and the composite material related standards are only for composite insulators or composite cross-arm single components. The emergence of CICA not only simplifies the insulators and optimizes the structure of the tower, but also innovates in the electrical, structure, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of the tower. At present, there are no standards and regulations related to the design, structure, construction, operation and maintenance of CICA overhead transmission lines at home and abroad.

SMAREPC leads the standard design

In 2019, SMAREPC was approved to lead the formulation of the "Technical Guidelines for Composite Cross arm Tower Overhead Transmission Lines" IEEE standard, along with participation China Southern Power Grid Company, Chongqing University and other domestic authorities, filling in the gap in standards for composite cross arm towers in both China and abroad.

The standard provides systematic standards and regulations for the construction and maintenance of CICA overhead transmission lines from six aspects: design regulations, component technology, test technology, construction and acceptance, operation guidelines, and overhaul specifications. The issues and difficulties in whole life cycle management fill the gaps in the domestic and foreign standards of composite cross arm towers, which are of great significance compared to the existing standard system.
